To conclude your Homecoming weekend, watch the Arizona football team take on Washington State.

WHAT'S HAPPENING IN THE SOUTHEAST

UA Original Solar Music Celebrates Conclusion of Solar Decathlon in Washington, D.C.

Don’t miss a very special presentation of original solar music, including performances by UA Regents Professor Paula Fan, on Sunday, October 18 from 2:00 PM – 4:00 PM as the closing act of the Solar Decathlon on the Mall in Washington, D.C.

The University of Arizona is one of only 20 finalists in the Solar Decathlon competition, sponsored by the U.S. Department of Energy. Doors open for visitors to these 20 houses, part of the Solar Village on the National Mall, from October 9 – 13 and from Oct. 15 -18.  (The UA Solar House is Number 104, on Jefferson Drive just across from the Smithsonian Castle and across the street from the U.S. Capitol.)

The Sunday festivities will include jazz and classical instrumental performances on solar-powered stringed and key board instruments, as well as a new work, A Bright New World or Dr. Solara and the Fossil Fuels, an original production for children and their parents about the importance of solar energy.

FAMILY WEEKEND LEGACY LUNCH

The University of Arizona Alumni Association and the UA Parents & Family Association invite alumni and their Wildcat students to the annual Legacy Luncheon on Saturday, October 17, 2009. This Wildcat for Life tradition has been a part of Family Weekend for a number of years and continues to grow. At the Legacy Lunch special ceremony, alumni parents pass a UA lapel pin to their child, now attending the UA. Arizona alumna and Vice President of Student Affairs, Melissa Vito, is the luncheon keynote speaker. Vito's twin sons are UA freshmen.

A multidisciplinary team from the University of Arizona is one of only 20 university-led teams selected to compete in the fourth Solar Decathlon, which will be held on the National Mall in Washington, D.C., on Sunday, October 18, 2009.
