LEGISLATIVE LIAISONS, PLEASE SHARE THIS INFORMATION WITH YOUR BOARD MEMBERS
The proposed cuts to the University System are devastating, but there are
alternatives that are much less so. Legislators will consider alternatives if
large numbers of constituents object to the proposed plan.
The UA truly needs your help and there are various ways you can do so:
1. Attend the Presidents' Press conference at the Arizona Capitol in Phoenix on
Monday, Jan. 26th, at 10 a.m. Information is attached.
2. Contact any or all legislators with the attached 'petition' message via email
or phone. Do this whether you've attended the above meeting or not.
If you're only contacting a few legislators, do so in this order: your own
legislators; legislators you know personally; legislative leadership (indicated
on the attached form); education and appropriation committee chairs;
regionallegislators; all others.
Legislative contact information, including how to determine your
legislative district, and the message, talking points and what is really being
cut documents are attached.
Please copy me on your correspondance -- cledet@u.arizona.edu
3. IMPORTANT: Share this information with your board members, especially if you
are a legislative liasion to a UA board, and/or share it with others you know
who value higher education.
4. IF YOU ARE A STATE EMPLOYEE OR STUDENT: Students should not use University
equipment to communicate with legislators; University employees should use
their own equipment on their own time.
Please call my office for more information: 602-212-1717.
Thank you.
