Experience the grandeur of Spain and Portugal while staying in the finest paradores and pousadas — nostalgic accommodations that reflect the architecture, art, history, and tradition of the region. Each is unique, beautiful, and historically relevant to its locale and an excellent portal for your journey. Begin in Ávila, a medieval city which stands protected by one of the most well-preserved defensive walls in Europe. Then, journey through Spain to see the treasures of historic Segovia, cultured Santiago de Compostela, and lively Salamanca. Travel to Portugal, where history comes alive in the preserved cities of Guimarães, Braga, Fátima, and Óbidos. Conclude your journey in sophisticated Porto and cosmopolitan Lisbon — Portugal’s capital city — a showcase for contemporary Portugal. Acquaint yourself with present-day cities of old while discovering the eastern Iberian Peninsula.
