Discover
two of Italy’s most remarkable regions as you journey through
coastal Campania and bucolic Umbria. Begin with a stroll through
Sorrento and its impressive sea cliffs, the main square at the
Piazza Tasso, Basilica di Sant’Antonino, and Correale di Terranova
Museum. Travel along the sunny Amalfi Coast to the town of Positano,
a vertical cityscape that inspires artists and writers. In Pompeii,
explore the ruins of the ancient city buried under volcanic ash
centuries ago during the cataclysmic eruption of Mount Vesuvius.
You’ll also experience the Roman Temple of Isis, dedicated to the
Egyptian goddess. Enjoy a day on Capri, the magical Isle of Dreams,
before journeying to Orvieto and the province of Umbria. Visit
Orvieto’s 12th-century Duomo and delightful food market. You’ll
experience Florence’s stunning Renaissance art and architecture, and
admire Il Duomo, the Basilica di Santa Croce, and the picturesque
Ponte Vecchio. Finally, explore Umbria’s capital city of Perugia, an
ancient Etruscan city-state and artistic center. You’ll see the
13th-century Fontana Maggiore, or main fountain, in the Piazza IV
Novembre, and the Prior’s Palace, which houses the National Gallery
of Umbria. The tour continues in medieval Assisi — the birthplace of
St. Francis and home of Basilica of San Francesco d’Assisi.
