Rome and Florence are two of Italy’s most famous, picturesque cities, rich in art and cultural heritage. One of the greatest centers of Western civilization, Rome fascinates visitors with its wealth of ancient monuments spanning virtually every era throughout history. Discover the enduring symbols of the eternal city. The largest amphitheater ever built in the Roman Empire — the Coliseum — brings to life the historic gladiator fights from long ago. And, a tour of Rome wouldn’t be complete without a visit to the Roman Forum — the central area around which ancient Rome developed — where commerce and the administration of justice once took place. At the Trevi Fountain, experience the beautiful mixture of the landmark’s stonework and water. Be sure to throw a coin into the fountain — a traditional legend holds that when visitors throw a coin into the fountain, they’re ensured a return trip to Rome. The next part of the tour takes visitors to Vatican City, the world’s smallest independent nation, located within Rome. It’s home to the magnificent St. Peter’s Basilica and the famed Sistine Chapel. Or, you can journey to the city of Pompeii, which was completely buried centuries ago during the catastrophic eruption of Mount Vesuvius.

After enjoying the riches of Rome, you’ll experience the wonder of Florence. It’s the undisputed artistic and cultural capital of Europe, often referred to as the birthplace of the Renaissance. As you tour the city, you’ll encounter architectural jewels, sculptures, and worldclass art galleries and museums around virtually every corner. The best-known site in Florence is the domed cathedral Santa Maria del Fiore, known as the Duomo. Other famous sites include the medieval bridge at Ponte Vecchio, and the Accademia di Belle Arti Firenze gallery, home to Michelangelo’s original statue of David. The timeless cultural attractions are endless and breathtaking. On the last leg of the tour, you’ll experience the scenic Tuscan countryside as you journey to the classic Italian city of Pisa — home to its famed leaning tower. Finally, journey to Lucca, a town rich in Roman art and history.
