Franklin Shelton

Franklin C. Shelton’s passion for and staunch support of The University of Arizona has been evident since he graduated with a bachelor’s degree in agriculture in 1978. Frank has served on numerous university boards and committees and has worked tirelessly in the community to increase funds for scholarships and any other university programs or needs he is asked to help with.

Frank is a second-generation Arizonan with 24 years of banking experience in agriculture and commercial lending and credit review. His banking career began in January 1984 as a collateral and real estate appraiser with the Arizona Farmers Production Credit Association. Since that time, he has held various lending and management positions with Farm Credit Services Southwest and First Interstate Bank, now Wells Fargo Bank.

One facet of Frank’s volunteer service to the UA is his work as the past president and secretary and current treasurer of the UA Alumni Association Phoenix-area East Valley Alumni Chapter. Frank’s quiet leadership style is considered by many to be the chapter’s strong foundation.

Frank also serves on the Maricopa Ag Center Advisory Board and he is a member of the Arizona National Livestock Show, Arizona Farm Bureau, and Arizona Cattle Growers Association. He is a past Treasurer of the Mesa 20-30 Club, a past trustee of the Arizona 4-H Youth Foundation, and the past treasurer of his neighborhood homeowners association. With many thanks for his tireless support of the UA, we present the Sidney S. Woods Alumni Service Award to Franklin C. Shelton.
